Sagenhaftes Island - Iceland Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2011

 

Iceland will be Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2011. This will provide a unique opportunity to present Icelandic literary culture to Germany, and to the book world as a whole – as well as to promote Icelandic culture and arts in general. The Icelandic Literature Fund moves its office

 

The Icelandic Literature Fund has moved its office from Tungata 14, 101 Reykjavik to Austurstræti 18, 4th floor, 101 Reykjavik. The Icelandic Literature Fund now shares offices with Sagenhaftes Island – Iceland the Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2011.

Translators in Residence/Travel Support for 2010

The Icelandic Literature Fund and The Writers´ Union of Iceland invite applications for grants for translators of Icelandic literature. Applicants selected will be granted a two to four weeks stay in Gunnarshús (The Writers´ residence in Reykjavík) in the spring or autumn 2010. The grant consists of travel expenses, housing and a sum of IKR. 20.000. pr. week - to cover living expenses during the stay.

 

The Applications, which indicate translated works/planned translations from Icelandic should be, sent no later than September 1st 2009 to The Icelandic Literature Fund, Hallveigarstöðum, Túngötu 14, 101 Reykjavík, Iceland. The result will be announced no later than October 1st 2009.

Translators in Residence

The Icelandic Literature Fund and The Writers´ Union of Iceland invite applications for  grants for translators of modern Icelandic literature. Up to three applicants will be granted a two to four weeks stay in Gunnarshús (The Writers´ residence in Reykjavík) in the spring or fall 2009.

 

The grant consists of travel expenses, housing and a sum of IKR. 20.000. pr. week - to cover living expenses during the stay. Þórbergur Þórðarson has had a considerable influence on Icelandic literature, but few of his works are available in translation. His works include Ofvitinn, Bréf til Láru, Íslenskur aðall and Suðursveit.
